Ethics of healing practice—1

From the August 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Why ethics? Their observance is indispensable to successful practice of Christian Science healing. Without the ethics of this Science we would lose sight of what it truly is as the restoration of Christ-healing, and of its marvelous power to redeem human lives and to cure the sick.

Do we think of ethical standards as mere regulations and restrictions? That would be a mistake. The ethics express the spiritual integrity of this Science; and they assure the spiritual integrity of the healer and the student. They are a protection to practitioner and patient. Their purpose is twofold:

• To guide spiritually the practitioner and patient. In other words, to assure that the warm, loving, healing, exalting spirit of the Christ, Truth, animates our prayers and thoughts and acts.
