Since my first testimony was published in 1975, I have had many experiences to be grateful for as a result of my continued study of Christian Science.
Some years ago I was afflicted with severe and sometimes crippling pain on one side of my body and down one leg. Through my own prayers the condition improved from time to time, only to appear to deteriorate again. However, there was evidence of overall improvement. After about six months I asked a Christian Science practitioner to help me through prayer. From then on there was gradual but steady progress.
During all this time, however much I declared the spiritual facts of God and man's relationship to Him as His child, and the absolute unreality of anything not created by God, who is infinite good, the pain seemed at times to be the biggest thing in my life. Nevertheless, there came a morning, after I had been receiving help for about three months, when on waking up I was immediately conscious that the physical condition, though it still seemed to be painful, was completely separate from me. I realized that the pain was not a part of my true being. Immediately I phoned the practitioner and asked her to cease working for me as I knew that I had been healed. Within a few hours there was no more pain. The condition has never recurred.
