The stability of spiritual living

From the June 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Impressive advances made in transportation have a strong impact on society. They help create an era in which stability is no longer defined in terms of years lived or worked in a certain place. In the midst of such mobility, where can we look for a solid foundation for our lives?

If our lives are God-directed, each move we make will be toward a better sense of spiritual freedom. But if we are simply caught up in the general atmosphere of "being on the move," we will eventually have to ask ourselves, "Where are we actually going?" and "What are we looking for?"

These are not easy questions to answer. And no one can answer them for us. When confronted with their ramifications, the human mind might prefer to keep busy—keep moving—rather than face the challenge of finding solid answers.
