Will there ever be a time when sorrow and pain and suffering cease? Is it just fantasy to expect a world where sin, disease, and death are not? Is it only wishful thinking to contemplate celestial joy? The New Testament answers these questions, and the writings of Mrs. Eddy explain how to achieve this reality.
It is recorded in the twenty-first chapter of Revelation: "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."Rev. 21:1-4.
What John saw on the Isle of Patmos was not the weary vision of a selfish ascetic straining to peer down the centuries into a not-too-certain future. The Revelator saw an unclouded view of man and the universe as they really are, totally spiritual. He was able, because of his uplifted thought and God-centered life, to see beyond the mistaken view of mankind and the material universe to the real heaven and the real earth. He perceived the real man, the perfect man of God's creation. Because of Mrs. Eddy's discovery—Christian Science—everyone can begin to see what the Revelator saw on his lonely isle. All may now experience in ever-increasing degree the promise of present reality. All may now understand that St. John's vision penetrated the mists of error and sin and saw things as they really are, God and His universe of ideas, perfect God and perfect man in pristine harmony.
