"The precious blood of Christ"

"Ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold . . ." the Bible tells us, ". . . but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot." I Pet. 1:18, 19.

But what exactly is this redemptive power—this precious blood of Christ?

Anatomically considered, blood serves the purpose of circulating the materials needed by the body and carrying away what it doesn't need.
