Christmas unity

What is it that makes us feel so close to those we love at Christmastime? There's a bond, a unity with others, that often seems especially pronounced at this time of the year.

This question of Christmas and unity and love was occupying my thoughts one day when I was walking on a busy downtown street. Suddenly two men raced around the corner and nearly collided with me. They were totally different from me in every way. Even their speech was almost incomprehensible, although we did speak the same language. And I wondered, "Could I feel a Christmas unity with those individuals?"
