Pantheism—the dualism that must be denounced

From the December 1984 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In divine reality, opposites never coexist or assimilate. There is good only, perfection only, joy and harmony only. Yet corporeal sense would falsely portray opposites as necessarily existing together, dwelling side by side. And thus, such dualism defines the very nature of what is called mortal existence. With dualism comes the confusion, the chaos, all the hell of accepting the spurious assumption that life is in matter.

But dualism can be proved to be unreal, for dualism is the antithesis of divine oneness. And it is oneness that expresses the true essence of reality—one God, I am that I am, one cause, one good, the All-in-all, one creator and His infinite creation.

Christian Science teaches that there is no place in God's kingdom for anything unlike God, who is illimitable Spirit and wholly good. There is no room in infinity for finity, no opportunity in omnipotence for an opposing power. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy states, "As readily can you mingle fire and frost as Spirit and matter."Science and Health, pp. 72-73.
