When the heart speaks, however simple the words, its language is always acceptable to those who have hearts. Mary Baker Eddy Miscellaneous Writings, p. 262.
"I would like to express my gratitude for the August Journal, with its reports of the Annual Meeting focused on 'our pastor.' I received it with other literature yesterday in a 'care package' from my wife, and quickly devoured the reports and many of the articles. I am stationed on an aircraft carrier which has been deployed to the Mediterranean area since April, and the reports and articles bring out so clearly the comfort and support which our pastor has brought me during this deployment. I've been unable to attend any church services in our ports-of-call (either due to unavailability or distance), have not identified any other Christian Scientists on board in my role as Christian Science Representative, and I rely on the above-mentioned packages from home for literature. This means that the Bible Lesson has been my primary source of spiritual food, and daily support and guidance, and how very grateful I am for it.
"I'd like to tell you of some of the healings and lessons gained during this experience. When I reenlisted in the Navy in December after being out for 3½ years, it was my wife's baptism to the life of a Navy wife. We have two small daughters, ages one and two. And so this cruise meant our first lengthy separation—truly a baptism by fire. However, thanks in large part to the Bible Lessons, it has been a rewarding and growing time for both of us. She was able to accomplish the move from our home in San Diego to Florida in my absence without incident, and assume the responsibilities of full-time mothering (we both had full-time jobs as Christian Science nurses prior to my reenlistment) and managing a home, and also being an absent landlord, as our San Diego home is being rented out. Her letters to me have been filled with gratitude for Christian Science at every step of the way, and any problem that has arisen has been met through prayer alone."
