Love Life

From the January 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Have you heard the mocking laughter?
Have you felt the winds blow cold?
They howl in the wilderness,
In the waste howling wilderness.
Have you seen the vultures hovering,
Have you tasted the poison of asps,
Have you smelled smoke,
Yet disappointed them all, and lived—
Because you loved Life?

Yes, love Life, God!

God is in the wilderness too,
In the waste howling wilderness,
God is right there with you.

Have you heard a still, small voice speaking softly?
Have you felt His love glowing warm?
It glows in the wilderness,
In the waste howling wilderness!
Have you seen rainbows in a valley,
And a rainbow around the moon,
Has your face shone,
Have you felt things too precious to tell—
Because you loved Life so well?

Are you sitting in sackcloth and ashes?

Is there—is there a scent of roses?
Do you hear springs of waters?
Is the desert beginning to bloom?

Is your staff in your hand?
