One day I lost my footing and fell off a four-foot retaining wall, landing on one knee and leg, across a curb. Immediately I picked myself up, turning my thought to God. Still, I had difficulty gathering my wits about me, but I managed to return to our third-floor apartment. I seemed to be suffering from shock and was shaking badly. It appeared that there was a broken bone below the knee and that the kneecap was crushed.
