My husband and I are among the fifth generation of Christian Scientists in our family. This means that for nearly a hundred years members of our family have relied on God for healing. The fruits of this reliance have been evident in prosperous and happy lives, and in healings too numerous to relate in one testimony.
From childhood I studied to be a dancer. Later, during the Second World War, I served approximately three and a half years as an entertainer in the United Service Organizations (USO). Most of that time was spent overseas in various theaters of war. I was often far away from branch churches, Christian Science Reading Rooms, and other Christian Scientists. It was during those years that I learned to do my own prayerful work and to take radical stands for spiritual truth.
There were wonderful instances of protection and joyous healings. But most significant to me was my meeting a lifelong Christian Scientist who has now been my husband for almost forty years. We took Christian Science class instruction when we returned to the United States, were married, opened a dance school together, and raised three beautiful children. After the children were grown and had left home to pursue their own careers, we continued to operate the school. I danced and taught five to six classes a day. And I enjoyed the respect of others, who remarked on what I was able to do "at your age."
