In her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy writes, "The theology of Christian Science includes healing the sick."Science and Health, p. 145. The fact that this theology includes healing and that Christian Science healing has been a matter of record and not mere theory speaks more strongly than we may realize to the situation of theology today.
When Christian Science burst on the religious scene over a century ago, it was a surprise for many that theology could include healing. Now an increasing number of committed Christians are coming to feel that theology with anything to say must include healing as living proof that the God whom Christians worship is experienceable and real.
Without this proof, it seems likely from evidence on the religious scene today that Christians will increasingly be confronted with two equally unacceptable options.
