Keeping the Sabbath day whole and holy

From the May 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Whatever happened to the Ten Commandments? Have they become but a paragraph in a book of ancient history?

The Ten Commandments reveal fundamental, eternal laws of life. The moral law they express is Truth's revelation to spiritually inspired thought of the basic rules leading to the demonstration of eternal life. The Commandments are timeless and universal. They point to how the kingdom of heaven, the actual realm of reality, can be made manifest on earth.

Exemplifying the government of divine Principle in its harmonizing, elevating, and protecting of human experience, the Mosaic Decalogue is a profound and invariable standard against which to measure our priorities. The First Commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me,"Ex. 20:3. is amplified by each of the other Commandments. It proclaims the one great Principle by which we can measure all of our decisions. "The divine Principle of the First Commandment bases the Science of being, by which man demonstrates health, holiness, and life eternal,"Science and Health, p. 340. writes Mrs. Eddy. It establishes the basic priority for a happy, healthy, and productive life.
