The moral and spiritual demand for healing

From the May 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We see evidence around the world that people are waking up to their individual and collective rights and obligations and that they are beginning to act. While the circumstances surrounding these uprisings can at times seem harsh, still, the efforts for right change can be applauded because every effort for true reform has at least a glimmer of the law of God, divine Principle, behind it.

Our part in this, our moral requirement in promoting worldwide and individual progressive change, is to recognize and accept the Christ, Truth, as our guide. This divine influence in human consciousness is always present. It comes to us right where we are and supplies us with what we need for healing. As we listen to this influence, we see and take progressive steps in thought and living to heal discordant or inequitable situations.

The spiritual, universal law of harmony and equity is ever operative and is continuously urging its claims on mankind. We feel the beneficent and salutary effects of these claims when we live in accord with this divine law. If we persist in looking ever more honestly at divine law and the claims it is making in any situation, we will be able to perceive more and more clearly that whatever form of evil we face lacks divine authority. Indeed, ultimately we will find that we are no longer facing an evil but are witnessing the all-power of these harmonious and equitable claims. Then these claims will be the only assertion we feel, and the discord will be healed.
