A written expression of my deep and sincere gratitude for Christian Science is long overdue. In 1960 I was released from the hospital to have Thanksgiving dinner with my family and friends. Some time earlier I had had a nervous breakdown. At that dinner party a Christian Scientist friend talked to me about Christian Science. I was supposed to return to the hospital the following day, but my friend asked me to visit her before I returned.
During this visit, for the first time in my life I heard the words "God loves you." Instantly I felt an inner peace that made me want to study Christian Science. I did not return to the hospital but from that day on relied entirely upon Christian Science to meet all of my needs.
The nervous disorder was quickly healed, and I soon was healed of many other difficulties also. In addition to having more love and spiritual understanding in general, I was healed of bursitis, for which I had been taking shots before turning to Science. I was also healed of an arthritic back condition, migraine headaches, monthly cramps, constipation, drinking, smoking, and many aches and pains. All of this came about just by reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, attending regularly a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and trying to be obedient to what I was reading. I really didn't know how to go about asking a Christian Science practitioner for help, but the dedication of studying and applying Christian Science was all I needed.
