My daughter and I were returning home when our car rounded a bend and turned over into a large construction ditch. When I saw what was happening I remembered Paul's words to the Corinthians "God . . . will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape."
I did not feel fear but a sense of wonder as to how we escaped from this predicament. I believe this state of mind prevented me from experiencing much suffering in the following days.
We were both rendered unconscious. My head, arm, and leg were lacerated, and a rib, my jaw, and my neck were broken. My daughter was thrown partway out of the car window and was cut and bruised. A farmer driving home saw our car, and we were taken to a local hospital, where our cuts were cleaned and bandaged.
