". . . if he open his mouth it shall be filled . . ."

From the April 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Have you ever been willing to fill an office in your branch church, such as an executive board member or Reader, but felt you couldn't because you lacked experience or a certain level of education? I have! However, if I'd continued to accept that limitation, I could not have served God and the Cause of Christian Science as fully as I have over the years.

In practicing Christian Science we turn to divine
Mind, God, for guidance and intelligence in knowing
what steps to take. This is not laborious but glorious
work—letting God express Himself in us.

One of the first things we should be clear about is what education really is. The dictionary defines it as the discipline or process of training of mind or character through study or instruction. Also, we need to remember that the qualifications for any position in branch church work are primarily spiritual. It is through prayer that we are led to take the steps that enable us and our church to progress. But in order to accomplish anything, we have to want to do it, for we learn in our study of Christian Science that desire is prayer.
