God is magnificent! And He expresses His magnificence through us, His cherished offspring. Christ, Truth, reveals this precious message to every one of us continuously. Praying and studying the Christian Science textbooks, the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings, to understand this message and bring our lives into conformity with it, we begin to see life as we've never seen it before. We discover we are all in actuality the sons and daughters of one Father-Mother, whose nature is perfect and harmonious. With this discovery the vagaries of matter-based thinking begin to give way to the verities of life in God, divine Love. And we rejoice in feeling reconciled to God as a result of our maturing recognition of man's inviolate oneness with Him.
As we progress in Christly living, however, we may be disappointed to find resistance cropping up. It may come as indifference, ridicule, criticism, or rejection. Yet even in the midst of resistance, we can so cling to Christ's promise of reconciliation—the assurance of our unity with God—and live the love of Christ that anything unlike Love ultimately will dissolve.
In facing resistance, we have Christ Jesus' example before us. We know Jesus recognized that it was not he, but the Christ, Truth, that impelled what he did and taught. Many of his day sought to silence Jesus, and he explained why. He said: "If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father."John 15:22-24.
