Each summer for many years, my husband and I have returned to a university nearby to attend the summer sessions. We stay in one of the dormitories and have our meals with other attending students and the professors.
Two summers ago, on the last Friday evening of the session, we were on our way to a movie, walking at a fast clip. I was priding myself on how nice it was keeping up with some of the students, who could have been our children's age. Suddenly my foot caught in a crack in the sidewalk and I fell forward, using my arm to protect my face. My glasses hit the side of my eye and flew over onto the grass next to the sidewalk.
I sat on the sidewalk, quietly acknowledging God's care and presence, until I heard someone in the group that had gathered saying that I was in a state of shock. I immediately repudiated this statement and said "No, I am fine."
