Poems

Through the eye of the storm

From the March 1993 issue of The Christian Science Journal

(Storms are times of prayer for many. The following poem was inspired by the author's prayers during and after a hurricane in his home state.)

What can the spiritual thinker do
when a storm peaks?
When the material senses
see only uncontrolled violence?

The thinker knows a different "wind" is here:
"That which indicates the might
of omnipotence and the movements
of God's spiritual government,
encompassing all things." Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health, p. 597.
