We live on the coast of Western...

From the February 1996 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We live on the coast of Western Australia, quite a distance from the nearest Christian Science branch church in Perth, of which I am a member.

One very hot Sunday my husband and I decided to attend the evening service, as it would be cooler for travelling by then. Beforehand we went down to the foreshore and parked the car with the doors wide open, hoping to catch any breeze. I sat with my hand curled around the door frame. Suddenly the sea breeze came up and shut the car door with a bang—on my hand. I could not speak, but I leaned forward and released the door.

My husband then realised what had happened, and turned to God, the divine Mind, for a comforting message to give me. He said, "God does not shut the door on His spiritual idea." This was just the message that I needed; unbeknownst to my husband, I had been feeling shut out from quite a few events I would have liked to attend, and feeling hurt as a result.
