A church membership's prayers—effective "pest control"

From the September 1996 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In a letter sent out to our branch church membership, the executive board requested a meeting in the interest of dealing with insect infestation. It mentioned that we would be taking a vote to decide whether to authorize expenditure of over two thousand dollars to allow a pest control company to free our church building of termites and carpenter ants. This problem needed to be dealt with before we could proceed with the renovation work we had already voted on. The board asked the membership to pray for the right solution. They suggested we would find the following statement from Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy helpful: "If mortals would keep proper ward over mortal mind, the brood of evils which infest it would be cleared out." Science and Health, p. 234

Our prayers proved effective. Another survey was made, and no termites or ants were found.
