Justice and mercy—on the job

From the May 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This account was originally published in The Herald of Christian Science (Japanese Edition).

My Husband has worked with the same international organization for almost twenty years. About seven years ago he had to move into a position that was at a lower level than the one he had previously held. We were given to understand that once the financial situation of the organization improved, he would be reinstated to his original status.

A year later, the financial situation improved greatly, and the director recommended to the head office that my husband be reinstated. There was great reluctance to do this, and a lot of correspondence went back and forth over a period of almost four years. My husband was very disheartened. He felt that his work and commitment were not being appreciated.
