It Was A Time of decision, a great crossroads. A crowd of people had followed this amazing man around, watching him perform miracles as he preached a new gospel: a loving God and infinite possibilities for man. But now he was asking them to give up their trust in the flesh for a wholly spiritual sense of life.
Disappointed, many of these followers fell away. While it had no doubt been wonderful to see the incredible healings and hear the comforting words Christ Jesus spoke to those he healed, this leap of faith from the human sense of reality to a more spiritual perception was more than they were ready to understand and commit to. Jesus turned to the small band of twelve men that remained and asked, "Will ye also go away?"
One of them, Simon Peter, answered for the rest: "Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life." John 6:67, 68 There was no reason to look anywhere else. In Jesus' teachings they had found the truth.
