Christ Jesus proved that the power of God to heal can be demonstrated now. He made the most of each moment, confirming through his works that the power behind him was infinitely greater than the challenge in front of him. He proved that matter, whatever its apparent condition, is not something to fear. His teachings and works help us see that we don't have to be preoccupied with what we think has happened to matter or is going to happen to matter. The Master showed that matter is no more than a manifestation of mortal thought. He didn't accept matter as his true selfhood. Through his resurrection and ascension, he verified that his real identity, or Christ, had never truly entered matter, and therefore had never been subject to destruction in matter. He demonstrated that man's genuine being is entirely spiritual and has always been in divine Mind, coexistent with God.
Jesus lived in the "now," attesting by his works that good is the reality right now, that mortal thought, manifest as sin, disease, and death, never did exist in divine Mind and therefore never had entity or power. Never did he allow mortal thought to take him over, knowing that God, Love, was his ever-present Father. In her book Unity of Good, Mrs. Eddy writes: "Jesus said, 'I and my Father are one.' He taught no selfhood as existent in matter. In his identity there is no evil. Individuality and Life were real to him only as spiritual and good, not as material or evil." Un., p. 46
