Testimonies of Healing

No need for stitches

From the May 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"In atmosphere of Love divine, / We live, and move, and breathe" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 144). These were the first words that came to my thought after receiving a telephone call saying that my son had been injured at school and would need to go to the hospital for stitches. He had been playing basketball, and his teeth had gone through his lip. My son requested that I call a Christian Science practitioner, which I did immediately.

As the fear was
quieted, the healing
came rapidly.

My daughter drove my son from their school to mine, to pick me up. While waiting for them to arrive, I continued praying with the above hymn. The next lines state, "Though mortal eyes may see it not, / 'Tis sense that would deceive." I held to the thought that the only picture I could really see was God's perfect child, who has never left that state of perfection. I'm grateful to say I was able to remain calm and listen clearly for direction. On our drive home, we talked about how an accident is foreign to God's government, as this would mean that one of His ideas had been out of His care for a moment, that there was a period in which God was not in control. Since our Father-Mother God is omnipresent and omnipotent, this is not possible.
