Testimonies of Healing

Cult influences overcome

From the September 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I would like to express my utmost gratitude for the many healings I have had in Christian Science. Without Christian Science, I do not know if I would have made it through one particularly severe and trying experience.

Several years ago, I had a strong desire to live in California. I had tried living there previously, but ended up moving back home to the Midwest. Being a persistent and seemingly stubborn person, I wanted to try it again. After graduating from college, I once more ventured out West.

Looking back now on this experience, I can see how headstrong I was being. I thought everything was up to me and felt very pressured to succeed. This left me feeling frustrated—especially that my career was not advancing as quickly as I would have liked it to. Also, during this time, I was promiscuous and drank excessively.
