26 topics guide you on your quest for truth

From the July 2004 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Who hasn't wondered, as Paul Gauguin expressed it on the eve of the 20th century through the title of one of his most famous paintings, Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going? And who hasn't wondered about other basic questions-—Is there an afterlife? What about evil? Does God answer prayer?

The 26 topics of the weekly Bible Lessons that Mrs. Eddy developed for the Christian Science Quarterly, repeated twice annually, are broad enough to address questions that everyone wrestles with in their quest for truth. They speak to first-time readers and longtime students alike.

But some are easier to grasp than others, says Mike Diffenderffer from Timonium, Maryland. "'Doctrine of Atonement,'" says Mike, "You don't know where that's going until you get into it." He's been studying the Bible Lessons with his wife "probably about a year. We listen on spirituality.com because we really like the readers. Karen and I like to discuss the Lesson, and we usually have a pretty good understanding of it once we go over it together."
