What readers of the Bible Lesson say

From the July 2004 issue of The Christian Science Journal

From Sacramento, California: The Bible Lesson was my introduction to Christian Science. I was a young mother of three children, and my son had epilepsy. The hospital said That he would be subject to it for the rest of his life, that he would be on medication every day in case he might have a seizure. And he did have a grand mal seizure more than once. It was very frightening. My mother had just died, so I was in total despair. I always loved the Bible and loved God, but it didn't seem to bring me the answers I needed.

My neighbor came over one day and said to me, "Would you like to read the Bible Lesson with me?" She was so sweet about it, and it felt so comforting.

I said, "I'd love to." I hadn't a clue what the Bible Lesson was. She brought her books over—the Bible and Science and Health. We sat in the backyard and read the Bible Lesson every day. Within two months, my life had turned around. I was joyful. The despair had gone. I felt hopeful. I felt direction back in my life. I knew that my mom was really still with God. And my son was healed of epilepsy. He was two years old then. He never had any more seizures, and the doctors verified that they did not understand what happened. Now he's an adult.
