Over 20 years ago, I thought my prayers and the prayers of the practitioner who was helping me had failed to heal me when I had to be hospitalized after I had fallen while on holiday.
Often over the years I have thought about this and wondered why this happened, when so much else in my life has been healed through prayer based on the teachings of Christian Science. So imagine my gratitude when, in casual conversation recently, my husband told me that at the time of the incident, the doctors had told him they expected me to suffer from this mishap for at least three or four weeks, much longer than the three days it took for complete recovery.
Back then, newly married, my husband had not previously witnessed the power of scientific prayer. So when he found that I couldn’t move after slipping down some stairs at our remote fishing hut, he bundled me up and, via boat and van, hurried me off to a small country hospital. During this time I had been trying to pray, but I found this very difficult as the pain was quite intense.
