My husband and I have a pet poodle named Sammy whom we love as if he were our child. He is such a precious part of our family.
One day last winter, when Sammy and I were on a walk, a neighborhood dog bit him. It seemed that he had been hurt badly. We decided to take Sammy to a veterinarian for stitches to bind up the wound and, once that was accomplished, to rely on prayer in Christian Science, rather than drugs or other medical treatment, for his full restoration.
The vet expressed concern about the possible aftereffects of this accident. He put Sammy on various drugs, and sent us home with additional medicine. He cautioned that even these drugs might not be enough to prevent the serious consequences he feared.
