‘Wind-wafted’ seeds of truth—our open invitation to a Christian Science lecture

From the October 2017 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Each year, our church sponsors a Christian Science lecture, given by a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. The lecture is for the community, on a topic we feel will particularly bless others. Several years ago, during a recessed economy, we chose a lecture on employment.

We began by holding a preparatory meeting with the lecturer, and by knowing that each of us is already fully employed as an idea of God, expressing His qualities. We knew our lecture could bring out the fact that as children of God, we each possess and reflect God as Soul, with intelligence and productivity. And this naturally includes the ability to express these qualities in uniquely useful and fruitful ways.

In talking about refuting resistance to the lecture, we took a two-pronged approach. First, we talked about how there could be no obstacle between right ideas and those who could benefit from them. God, divine Mind, was at work bringing together each component of this event—the lecturer, our church members, and those who could most benefit from the ideas lovingly prepared and shared.
