A number of years ago my husband and I went on a work trip to an island in the Caribbean.
Prior to the trip we had been cautioned about drinking the water in this country, and upon arrival we were diligent about drinking only bottled water. However, after drinking a beverage with ice, I became very ill in the evening. As the discomfort became increasingly severe, I became more and more frightened.
Since I have been a student of Christian Science my entire life and have experienced healing in situations of all kinds, as well as witnessed family members’ healings, I knew that I wanted to rely on prayer in this situation. Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy states, “The confidence inspired by Science lies in the fact that Truth is real and error is unreal” (p. 368). I had a lot of confidence in God’s goodness and in the efficacy of Christian Science healing.
