I have always been grateful for these words in Isaiah: “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left” (30:21).
When making decisions in life, it’s sometimes hard to know if we are taking the right step. Often the decisions we make are clear-cut and uncomplicated, but at other times we hesitate and feel indecisive. Reaching out to divine Mind for guidance, we can listen for that “still, small voice,” just as individuals did in Bible times. As the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, counsels: “I will listen for Thy voice, / Lest my footsteps stray” (Poems, p. 14).
I have become used to hearing and obeying guidance from God—which sometimes comes as a feeling of peace or as an inspired idea—so I was troubled recently when I was faced with making an important decision and the way ahead wasn’t clear to me.
