Much inspiration has come to me over the years from reading various biographies of Mary Baker Eddy. Each biography brings a different glimpse into how Mrs. Eddy lived her practice of Christian Science and healed. These written treasures offer instruction as to how we, too, can heal spiritually.
A recollection from Mrs. Eddy’s life became especially meaningful to me several years ago. I was working for an organization whose members would often come into the office. One particular member would do nothing but complain about everyone and everything when she dropped in. I dreaded her visits. Every time I saw her approach the office, I would prepare for another onslaught of disparaging remarks.
One day this woman’s negative attitude upset me so much that I grumbled along unhappily as I walked several blocks down the street to run errands. She had really robbed me of my joy. Or so I thought.
