My husband planned to attend a high school reunion out of state with numerous events scheduled over a handful of days. A few days before, I decided to accompany him and help with the long drive. I couldn’t commit to going to the events, knowing I needed to stay focused on work. But I also knew it would be good to briefly see a few close friends if I went along.
The drive en route was uneventful, and when we arrived he was so happy to engage with former classmates. However, on the second day my back became very painful. I prayed, but the intensity of the pain increased. While at dinner with a friend, I found myself quietly praying moment by moment due to this relentless, sharp pain.
I slept fine that night, but when I awoke the next morning the pain seemed the same. I started the day with thoughtful reading of the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s writings, and followed that with Christianly scientific prayer as explained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy.
