“Thy kingdom come”: A daily invitation

These three words, “Thy kingdom come” (Matthew 6:10), given to us by Christ Jesus in the Lord’s Prayer, are an invitation to let God, not human will, govern our thoughts and actions day by day. Jesus made clear our need to do this at the beginning of his ministry when he said, “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17). 

Mary Baker Eddy gave the following By-Law to the members of the Church she founded: “It shall be the duty of every member of this Church to pray each day: ‘Thy kingdom come;’ let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!” (Manual of The Mother Church, p. 41). Titled “Daily Prayer,” this By-Law is an indispensable guide in the daily practice of Christian Science healing. Here is some of what I’ve been finding helpful in this “Daily Prayer.”
