Yet one may wonder how he can help, for at first glance it seems ridiculous that a few men here and there might be of any value. But he who cherishes freedom to worship, speak, and' live without the tyranny and imposition of mortal mind's laws can learn how to claim his right to make just decisions and to live harmoniously through practicing the Science of Christianity.
Mary Baker Eddy says ( Miscellaneous Writings, p. 172 ), "Intrepid, self-oblivious Protestants in a higher sense than ever before, let us meet and defeat the claims of sense and sin, regardless of the bans or clans pouring in their fire upon us.
Throughout her writings Mary Baker Eddy has shown consistently that to obey the teachings of Christian Science, individuals must live in a Christly manner at all times. Her words in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" are a case in point.
How often the cry goes forth for freedom. Where can it be found? Many ways are offered humanly and found to be hopeless.

The pessimistic conviction that heaven is always elsewhere or comes later in one's experience and that earth is a "vale of tears" or, at most, of only ephemeral value to mankind would prevent the full enjoyment of the moment and the opportunities at hand. A proper reading of the Gospels would contradict these theories.
Laws of nature are sometimes restrictive, oppressive, and unjust, but God's law is always just, constructive, uplifting, and harmonious, resulting in freedom and well being to the individual who lives in accordance with God's requirements.
