TIMES of international tension naturally arouse in the human mind thoughts concerning the security and future welfare of one's country, the national state which claims one's duty and affection. A Christian Scientist knows that there is no human relationship about which this Science has not something helpful to teach him; and this is certainly the case with regard to patriotism.
OCCASIONALLY one hears the phrase "a good demonstration" used in order to describe an enrichment of some sort which has taken place in the life of a student of Christian Science. Sometimes the words seem to imply that some material accretion is a demonstration; that greater luxury, expressed in more wealth and ease, may be the necessary fruitage of our understanding of Christian Science.
ONE of the basic teachings of Christian Science is that man, in his real individuality, is absolutely sinless. Being sinless, he is immortal; for sin alone is self-destructive.
IT is conceded that Christ Jesus performed his wonderful works and uttered his immortal words because of his spirituality. It is also conceded that his contemporaries did not fully understand either his words or his works, because of their lack of spirituality.
