Testimonies of Healing

Truly the study of Christian Science has brought many things into my life which give me just cause for an expression of gratitude. During the past seventeen years this truth has been an ever present source of guidance and protection.

With heart overflowing with gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to Mary Baker Eddy, our revered Leader, I wish to express my gratitude by telling others some of the blessings my children and I have received from the applied truths of Christian Science. I was laboring under stomach trouble when I caught the first gleam of the light of Christian Science.

Christian Science came to me when most needed, at a time when it looked as if everything that life held dear would be swept away. At this time I was much opposed to Christian Science, for I did not know what it really was.

I should like to give thanks for a wonderful healing of sore throat and cold. The cold developed one Saturday evening, and as I had always suffered from colds I thought it was quite time I started to do some serious work about it.

I do not know just where to commence or to leave off in telling of the wonderful change Christian Science has wrought in my life. About six years ago, I suffered from what the physicians pronounced neurasthenia.

Nearly eight years ago, Christian Science came to me while in a hospital under treatment for nervous exhaustion, through a letter from a sister, which told me what Christian Science was, and how to reach out for the healing so sorely needed. No literature was allowed me until my nurse, noting an improvement, said to me, "You have been better ever since you had that letter.

We read in the Preface to our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, these words ( p. vii ): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings.

I have been a student of Christian Science for about seven years. At first I felt very much prejudiced against it, since it was so different from the usual way of believing in a corporeal God, which I had been taught all my life.

From a heart filled with gratitude to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, and with a prayerful desire to help those who may be discouraged over a slow healing, I give the following testimony. Some years ago a malignant growth started in my throat, causing an obstruction so large that it was almost impossible to eat solid food.

Christian Science is the greatest blessing which has come into my life. In the past seven years, with the exception of having a doctor in attendance at the birth of our three children, along with a practitioner's help at two of the births, God has been our only physician and Christian Science our only medicine.
