Testimonies of Healing
In 1911, a growth, commonly called a wen, was cut from my head by a surgical operation. At the same time a tiny one was apparently removed, too; but some time afterwards I found that the small one was still there.
I have been a student of Christian Science for about twenty years, and in that time have experienced many healings. Recently, while coming home on a street car one evening, I was suddenly attacked with very severe pains, apparently a case of poisoning.
For several years I was a victim of hay fever. I dreaded to see the fall of the year come, on account of the return of this disease and the misery it caused me.
Some years ago I suffered from serious stomach trouble. After medicine and methods of nature healing had failed, I decided to try Christian Science, of which I had just heard for the first time.
When I found Christian Science I was not searching for it. Indeed, I was neither sick nor discouraged.
It is a great privilege to speak of the blessings that have come to me since I have been trying to get a better understanding of God through the study of Christian Science. In our home life there is joy; we now have happiness and peace instead of worry, melancholy moods, and discontent.
Almost ten years ago I was led to Christian Science in a time of great need. I was suffering from a nervous breakdown, accompanied by all its attendant ills, together with an organic disorder.
In the summer of 1913 a prominent physician in the Middle West said that I did not have a strong organ in my body, and recommended certain medicines, special exercises, and salt baths daily. All these were necessary, he pronounced, in order that I might gain a normal condition,—a condition which I had never seemed to have.
It is over five years since I became interested in Christian Science, and during that time I have had many proofs of the power of Truth to overcome error of every sort. The first healing I had was over a condition for which I had undergone two major operations but was little bettered thereby.
In 1912, I was stricken with a serious nervous trouble. The condition became so much worse in the course of a year that I lost all desire to live.
