Testimonies of Healing

Almost ten years ago I was led to Christian Science in a time of great need. I was suffering from a nervous breakdown, accompanied by all its attendant ills, together with an organic disorder.

In the summer of 1913 a prominent physician in the Middle West said that I did not have a strong organ in my body, and recommended certain medicines, special exercises, and salt baths daily. All these were necessary, he pronounced, in order that I might gain a normal condition,—a condition which I had never seemed to have.

It is over five years since I became interested in Christian Science, and during that time I have had many proofs of the power of Truth to overcome error of every sort. The first healing I had was over a condition for which I had undergone two major operations but was little bettered thereby.

It was in 1919 that I began the study of Christian Science in earnest. At three different times in previous years I had attempted to take it up, but failed because of prejudice and lack of interest.

In 1912, I was stricken with a serious nervous trouble. The condition became so much worse in the course of a year that I lost all desire to live.

I left school and started earning my own living at an early age, and at thirty was sales manager of a large concern, happily married, and established in a position in which I was considered quite a success. Just about this time Christian Science was brought to my attention, and, not having been a church member, or in sympathy with any of the established forms of religion, although naturally of a somewhat religious turn, I eagerly embraced this beautiful teaching.

For the wondrous light and liberty, the freedom, joy, and satisfaction that have been revealed to me through the study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I shall ever be grateful. When Christian Science was first brought to my notice I was morbid, lonely, unhappy, looking for something to satisfy my deep need.

I came to Christian Science about fourteen years ago for the healing of a skin disease known to the medical profession as butterfly lupus, after having doctored with various physicians and having had treatment from two very eminent skin specialists. I had also tried various lotions and medicines, finally resorting to X-ray treatment, but all to no avail.

Christian Science heals. The truth of this statement has been abundantly proved in my experience all along the way since first the healing ministry of this blessed revelation of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, broke the gloom of a wretched little home and lifted a hopeless sufferer therein into health and happiness.

I am very glad to testify to the healing power of Truth, as manifested in the case of my daughter, a few years ago. Finding at the end of a week that my understanding of Christian Science was not sufficient to handle the case, we asked a dear practitioner for help.
