Testimonies of Healing

I cannot express my gratitude in words for the many healings I have received through Christian Science, which has given me a better understanding of God and of the mission of Christ Jesus, and a religion that is practical. I am grateful to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and for the periodicals.

In the autumn of 1916, I heard about Christian Science. At the time I was suffering greatly from insomnia, fear, and agony.

For almost sixteen years before learning anything of Christian Science, I suffered from weak eyesight. For this whole period I wore glasses.

When I found Christian Science, seven years ago, I was ill physically, and almost on the shoals mentally and financially. Unable to accept the ideas presented by the so-called orthodox church, and knowing nothing better to replace them, I had drifted for some years without any thought of God or any concern about the future or spirituality.

When I first came to Christian Science, eleven years ago, I was healed instantaneously of a so-called incurable disease. I was just about as ill as any one could be who was still able to get about.

Deep and endless gratitude to God, to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and to a dear Christian Science practitioner prompts me to write of a wonderful healing which my child experienced.

The first I knew of Christian Science was through attending the Sunday school when a small child, my parents having taken up the study of Christian Science at that time. I am now a member of The Mother Church, also of one of the branch churches.

I am most grateful for the real understanding of Love that is being unfolded in my daily life, for glimpses of the Love which Christ Jesus knew and reflected in all his works. Christian Science frees us from wrong desires and false appetites: I was healed of the morphine habit of twelve years' duration.

Before taking up the study of Christian Science I was a so-called nervous wreck, a veritable slave to fear. I had experienced nervous collapses at different times, being forced to give up my studies and work.

I am glad that I can say the above is true; but it is only a small part of the healings that have come to us. Within the past year I have been completely healed of the use of tobacco, after using it for nearly twenty-five years.
