Testimonies of Healing

When Christian Science came to me, I had been a sufferer for five years from gastric or duodenal ulcer, obstructed pyloris, and deformed lower intestine. For the greater part of this period I also suffered from hemorrhoids.

Since Christian Science came into my life, fifteen years ago, I have had abundant proof that it is the Comforter which Jesus promised to the world. As the first glimpse of the spiritual nature of God and of His creation dawned, I experienced instantaneous release from the necessity of wearing glasses.

All that I have to-day I owe to Christian Science. For the last three years it has met my every need.

Christian Science came into my life proving that "man's extremity is God's opportunity. " After trying doctors, health resorts, hospitals, and material remedies for three years, I was told that another climate was my only hope.

It is a joyous privilege to express my gratitude for the many blessings which Christian Science has brought into my life during the last twenty years. I had suffered constantly and intensely for several years from curvature of the spine, and every material remedy had failed.

Over thirteen years ago I began attending Christian Science Wednesday evening testimony meetings in a casual way. Many of those who testified used the expression "spiritual understanding.

I first became interested in Christian Science about seventeen years ago. Seeing my need, a friend said, "You surely need Christian Science as much as any one I know; " and she lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

With deepest gratitude to God for what Christian Science has done for me, I give this testimony in the hope that others may reap such blessings as I have received. I have had many healings, among them three from what were deemed incurable diseases: a cancer which caused great suffering; a spinal trouble which caused severe pain in the back of my head; also a very bad cough.

A few years ago, I had a stroke of apoplexy, and at that time we were informed by the physician that if it recurred it would probably prove fatal, or in case of recovery it would be doubtful if I should ever walk again. In the spring of 1922 we took up the study of Christian Science, seeking help for my wife, who had just returned from her fifth visit to the hospital.

Before I gained a knowledge of Truth as revealed in Christian Science, life was to me an unsolvable problem. In spite of thirty years' association with orthodox denominations, I had not realized the conscious sense of unity with God which I longed for, and there remained a veil which shut out the light.
