Testimonies of Healing

I wish I could do justice in describing my appreciation of Christian Science. When this beautiful truth was brought to me I was in "the valley of the shadow," suffering from kidney and bladder trouble in a very severe form.

After going through many conditions of suffering which physicians had failed to heal, I was told of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I knew absolutely nothing of it, or its author; but the little that was related appealed to me, and I sent to the public library for the book.

My first impression of Christian Science was as a religion of joy and of love; and I was led into it in the following way. At Christmas time, a few years ago, I arrived in the United States with only a slight knowledge of the English language and without a real friend within a distance of three thousand miles.

Several years ago, after becoming interested in Christian Science, I was in an automobile accident and sustained what seemed very severe injuries. A physician was called against my wishes and examined me.

It is now a quarter of a century since I turned to Christian Science for help. Although much in need of physical healing, I turned to it for relief from a sense of loss and sorrow.

When Christian Science came to me, I was greatly in need of the healing power of Truth. Since childhood I had suffered with a weak back, nervous trouble, and mental depression, as the result of spinal meningitis.

I wish to express my gratitude for the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. For more than twenty years I was afflicted with what doctors call choroiditis.

About fourteen years ago I was taken ill with what a number of doctors, including some of the best-known specialists in New York, called tuberculosis of one kidney and acute Bright's disease of the other kidney. At the time of this diagnosis, I was in one of our prominent hospitals to be operated upon; but the surgeon in charge found he could not perform the operation, as it would mean instant death.

I was healed through Christian Science of contraction of the larger intestine eighteen years ago, after physicians expressed the opinion that I would remain in lifetime bondage to this complaint. I have passed safely and painlessly through the birth of children, with no after effects in any of these experiences.

Before I became interested in Christian Science, from a sense of duty I read the Bible for its historic value. Now I study the Bible in connection with the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, for the spiritual truth that it imparts.
