Testimonies of Healing

It is with great joy that I add my testimony to the many others, feeling, as I do, that outside of Christian Science neither peace nor true happiness is to be found. I heard of Science many years ago, and have been very slow in waking up—not for want of desire, but because my life till then had been spent in acquiring worldly knowledge, in thinking of self, and in a firm belief in the power of human intellect.

I gratefully send this testimony of a wonderful healing I experienced shortly after joining the Christian Science Sunday School, at the age of sixteen. At that time I was quite deaf, the result of scarlet fever when a small child,—so the doctors said.

I too wish to avail myself of the privilege of bearing grateful testimony to physical and mental healing through Christian Science. Two years ago I suffered from a trouble which gradually developed into chronic bronchial catarrh.

When Christian Science was brought to my attention it found me suffering from a nervous and organic trouble of seven years' standing, continually getting worse, after all the kind efforts of the physician and osteopath had failed. I immediately began the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and found a great deal of comfort and relief, although there was much in the book I did not understand.

Having received so many benefits through the study of Christian Science, I should like to write about them in the hope of helping others. In March, 1920, I experienced a very annoying pain in my knee; but, like all other difficulties of the kind, I felt it would disappear through my own Christian Science reading.

Over five years ago, when a friend asked me to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the thought came to me that I did not need Christian Science as I was not sick. But at her request I read it, along with the Lesson-Sermons given in the Christian Science Quarterly; and I was healed of an ungovernable temper.

From the time I was sixteen years of age an internal condition caused me great physical suffering. Everything which materia medica offered was tried, until it seemed that an operation was the only resort; but I would not consent to that.

Words are inadequate to express my gratitude to God and to Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader, for the wonderful blessings that have come to me through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

I have experienced many healings in Christian Science during the past ten years, but I am impelled to speak first of an instantaneous deliverance from influenza which came to me some years ago, at the time of the influenza epidemic. After suffering for two nights and a day from all the symptoms of this disease, I found myself, on the second morning after the attack, unable to raise my head from my pillow.

I desire to give an account of some of the blessings I have received since turning to Christian Science. I was healed instantaneously of what the physician said was incurable organic liver and kidney trouble.
