Testimonies of Healing

For ten years Christian Science has been my sole reliance, and it has freed me from all resort to medication, besides bringing to me the first satisfactory interpretation of the Bible and revealing God to me. At a time when the world is beset by many so-called mental cures, based on the carnal mind, I feel that my testimony should be given in proof of spiritual healing through Christian Science.

I feel that I should witness to what Christian Science has done for my enlightenment and salvation. During nearly forty years I was a pastor of churches of one of the larger bodies of professing Christians.

I have read other people's testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals for twenty years, and listened to those given at the midweek meetings for many years, but every time I have tried to tell about a few of the many wonderful benefits we have experienced in our family, some argument would hinder me. I have learned, however, that any expression of good, any desire to help others, comes from God; that I am only a channel through which good is expressed.

" Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, and thou hast delivered me. " This is always my psalm of gratitude for having been delivered from a life of sickness and sin.

It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude and joy that I should like to express what Christian Science has done for me. In these last five years, since I turned to Christian Science, many physical ills have been overcome in our family and harmony restored.

Many years before taking up the study of Christian Science I was healed by it of a very severe spinal disease. Fearing a doctor would say I needed to be operated upon, my parents called for Christian Science help.

It is with a deep sense of gratitude to God, and an earnest hope that it may benefit some one seeking the truth, that I write this testimony. Six years ago I was led to a Christian Science practitioner.

I have gone through what is considered a marvelous and wonderful experience by those who know me. There came a time, rather quickly and unexpectedly, when all joy, pleasure, position, health, home, family, and happiness were crowded out of my life.

It is a great pleasure to give this testimony of the protecting and healing power of divine Love, as revealed and made practicable to-day through Christian Science. In the fall of 1911 I was traveling on a passenger train, riding in the car next the engine, when our train collided head-on with a freight train.

It was my privilege to serve my country in the late war for a period of fifteen months; and during that time I often experienced the unlabored operation of Christian Science as a protective agency. In 1918, I was stationed at a concentration camp in the South.
