Testimonies of Healing

In the hope that this testimony will bring renewed courage to some one, I wish to relate some of the things which Christian Science has done for me. It is not possible for me to describe all the blessings that I have received through this teaching.

Several years ago I attended a Christian Science lecture and was so deeply impressed with the logic of it that I decided I had found what I had been searching for all my life. I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing.

Soon after I took up the study of Christian Science, a practitioner who was giving me treatments asked me to memorize the "scientific statement of being," as it appears in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy ( p. 468 ).

When I first began the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I knew that I had found the truth of which Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. " My progress at the beginning seemed rapid.

It is a privilege to add my note of gratitude for Christian Science to the great chorus of audible and inaudible testimonies that are daily ascending from grateful hearts throughout the whole world; gratitude to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, for having cleared away the mists of false theology, and given us again the God of our Way-shower, Jesus the Christ, the God of love, of whom Jesus said, "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. " My early childhood was one of delicacy and unhappiness.

In the year 1914 I took up the study of Christian Science for the healing of my son's eyes. They were very weak and inflamed, supposedly as the after effect of measles.

Through the healing of my son of pneumonia several years ago, I became interested in Christian Science, although another member of the family had been studying this Science for about two years prior to that time. Soon after taking up the study, I was able to prove the efficacy of Christian Science with the aid of a practitioner, by overcoming a dislocated hip.

Christian Science has brought me many blessings, and I am deeply grateful for them all; but the one for which I feel most thankful is the understanding I am gaining of God through the study of Christian Science; for it has given me a God I can understand and love and demonstrate in my daily life as divine Principle. The healing power of Christian Science has been demonstrated innumerable times to each member of my family, as well as to myself, and so-called medical laws have been broken.

I first heard of Christian Science some years ago. Previous to that time I had been for years in a very feeble and delicate condition of health, the doctors saying I had lung trouble.

It is a number of years since a former neighbor and friend called at my home and asked me to investigate Christian Science, saying she was almost convinced that it was true. Although I knew very little about Christian Science at that time, I was glad to have an opportunity to learn more.
