Testimonies of Healing

It is with the deepest sense of love and gratitude to God for all the blessings received through Christian Science that I give this testimony of the instantaneous healing of acute indigestion, which I experienced some years ago while living in New Orleans. I was awakened at two o'clock one Sunday morning with agonizing pain and nausea; and although I tried to do my mental work, I was unable to cope with the error.

When the subject of Christian Science became of frequent discussion in my home, I was experiencing some discomfort, said to be due to the excessive use of tobacco. I therefore decided to see if Christian Science could do anything for me.

As a child I was taught to love the Bible and the church, and as a child I always wanted to know about God. As I grew up, this desire led me to read all I could, and question all I could, in the endeavor to find the truth.

Physical healing by spiritual means, received through the ministrations of a Christian Science practitioner, created a desire to know of the method in which the healing was accomplished. I was told the Bible contained the recipe for healing all disease and discord, but that it must be spiritually interpreted.

I had a nervous breakdown and suffered much pain from what the physicians called neuritis and sciatic rheumatism. For nine months I could not walk.

When visiting the United States twenty-five years ago, I became interested in Christian Science by hearing of and seeing some good cases of healing. Physical healing did not draw me to Christian Science; but I loved it, for I found in it the correct knowledge of God.

Thirteen years ago I attended my first lecture on Christian Science. I went there only through a sense of courtesy and with a desire to oblige a friend, toward whom I shall always have a deep sense of gratitude; but I left the lecture with an honest desire to know more of the wonderful truth which Jesus said would make us free.

For a period of fifteen years I suffered from a painful trouble which manifested itself at regular intervals. Finally, I had to submit to an operation on the kidneys.

I was healed of a severe illness through Christian Science, which brought to me a realization of the allness of God, with whom all things are possible. My trouble started in 1901 and became more serious from day to day; and I was growing correspondingly weaker.

It is with much gratitude to God, to Mrs. Eddy, and to the Christian Scientists who have so lovingly helped me that I send this testimony of the many blessings that have come into my life since I was asked to study Christian Science by a friend, to whom I can never feel grateful enough.
