Testimonies of Healing

The testimonies I have read in the various Christian Science periodicals have been so wonderfully helpful to me that in gratitude I feel I should like to add mine, hoping it may encourage some one else struggling out of the bondage of the flesh, Looking back on the years of misery and suffering which were my lot before I was able to accept the teachings of Christian Science, I know it would be impossible for me ever to express the debt of gratitude I owe to our revered Leader for the purity of her life and the unselfed love which enabled her to reveal Truth to this age. Left an orphan at an early age, I was already a constant sufferer from bilious headaches; and it was accepted as a perfectly natural thing that I should spend hours, sometimes days, lying in a darkened room.

I am glad to tell of the many blessings and proofs of God's loving care and protection which I have received through Christian Science. It healed me of a so-called incurable disease after medicine had failed.

It is with a feeling of duty, as well as pleasure, that I testify to the healing power of divine Love in Christian Science. For over thirty years I had been a sufferer from asthma, brought on supposedly by a catarrhal condition.

I have long desired to express my gratitude for Christian Science through the columns of our periodicals, in the hope that it may be of help and encouragement to others. For seven years I had been an invalid, unable to care for my home and family, and had been under the care of many physicians, receiving no hope from any of them that I could ever be restored to health.

When I first purchased the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, it was not in search for or in expectation of any physical healing, but simply to see what Christian Science was all about. I had not finished reading the first chapter, on prayer, before I realized that this was the truth about God and the universe, including man.

In giving expression to my deep sense of gratitude for Christian Science, the words of our great Master, Christ Jesus, come to me, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. " Every healing in Christian Science is the fulfillment of that promise; and it was surely in an hour of great need and despair that this truth about God's love for man reached me.

My first healing in Christian Science was that of a carbuncle, so called by the doctors. I knew very little about Science, but thought it the best way out of the difficulty.

It is a number of years now since Christian Science came to my knowledge and brought about such a transformation in my life. I had been most unhappy for some years.

For twenty-five years I was under medical treatment and was kept on a strict diet, being considered almost an invalid. Among my many ills were asthma, severe headaches, and kidney trouble.
